Experience
Our experience includes a broad range regulations, codes, and standards.
This is a brief summary of examples of some of our experience:
Audit
These activities were performance based and many were technical type audits. All applicable criteria were verified by example.
- First Party - Internal audits performed to nuclear standards
- Second Party - Vendor audits performed to both nuclear and commercial standards
- Third Party - Vendor approval audits to both nuclear and commercial standards
Assessment
Administered program and conducted assessments. The goal of this program was process improvement and typically looked well beyond the Quality requirements for suggested program and process improvement. Examples are:
- Implementation of software QA for a corporate wide mainframe program
- Maintenance and operations of physical plant systems
- Procurement process
- Training programs
Inspection
Examples include components, assemblies, and testing of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, controls, mechanical, visual, weld, and civil.
- Vendor Inspection: Performed inspections at the manufacturers’ facilities to verify contract compliance. These activities went well beyond the inspection process and incorporated applicable audit elements for verification of acceptance.
- Installation Inspection: Performed inspections at power plants to verify appropriate implementation of the work order and applicable codes and procedures.
- Receipt Inspection: Verified compliance to purchase order requirements
- Construction Inspection: Most aspects of civil construction activities
Process and Continuous Improvement
- Authored and implemented a Work Observation Program. Observations were performed by supervision and management. Typically, corrective action was immediately accomplished through coaching or submission of a procedure change. Results were trended for increased attention and appropriate management attention in weak areas.
- Organized and administered a Corrective Action program. Applied program results for failed process implementation, improvements, added personnel safety, and coaching to achieve required compliance with quality standards and management expectations. Results were trended.
- Administration of the assessment program noted above.
Programs and Procedures
Authored/revised and implemented programs and procedures within both the nuclear and commercial industries. A few examples are:
- Procurement process
- Work Observation program
- Corrective Action
- Software QA program
- Maintenance Department procedures
- Foreign Material Exclusion
Vendor Activities
These activities include nuclear and commercial standards
- Conducted second and third party audits
- Performed source inspections
- Assisted vendors with program and procedure revision for meeting contract requirements
Seminars and Training
- Conducted pilot training programs for Quality personnel. These were first time conducted training sessions for critiquing with senior level staff prior to general presentation.
- Conducted seminars for program implementation and revision.
- Provided coaching to employees when needed under the Corrective Action and Work Observation programs.
Project Engineering
- Groundwater study and potential degradation of high alumina cement porous concrete layer. Established effective compliant contracts. Assisted in development of design package and procedures, and authored Safety Evaluations. Supervised contracted field work.
- Final Safety Analysis Report Update Project. Coordinated between the owner and contractor for accurate and timely completion of update.
Building Construction
Performed surveillance inspections for construction of nuclear power plants:

- Planned and scheduled steel erection
- Created inventory for bolting
- Specified crane positioning and engineered picks which were at the limits of crane
- Coordinated design changes and fabrication errors for refabrication and erection
- Inspected bolting with direct tension indicator washers
